An extract from the section on Scrying reads:

‘When you visit a place repeatedly to scry, the very walk to that place will begin to help you with the transition into the state of mind needed to be successful. This is one reason that I always try to keep to the same route when I am going to visit the pool that I am currently using for scrying. The same thing occurs when you use a particular bowl over and over again, the entire process of the cleansing and filling up with water of that specific bowl will aid you.

What is happening is the creation of a practical ritual to quiet your mind and transfer your focus from the physical realms to the realms beyond.

Find a pool of still water: this can be the edge of a lake, a rock pool when the tide is out, a pool or dew pond, a deep puddle in the woods or high up on the moors, it can be the pond in your back garden or the local park, a bowl of water you place on the table, or even, in an emergency, that puddle on the pavement…’

The book is all about practical uses of magic through connecting with the elements and your environment, using what you find and working in a positive manner.
